Wolfie
This gorgeous (and aptly named) pup is Wolfie, a 6 year old Mackenzie River Husky. His owner, Gayla, and I are actually from the same small town in Georgia, isn’t that a crazy coincidence? We met in Alaska in 2015 and I was so excited when Gayla told me that she had entered Wolfie into the 2021 Calendar Competition! Wolfie is such a beautiful dog and I was excited to get to photograph him.
I met Gayla, her husband Pauly, and Wolfie at the ski trails by Eagle River High School. I had never been there before and Gayla suggested the location might be a good one! It was a great location and Wolfie was definitely in his element.
Gayla said that Wolfie could be a bit particular when I came to treats to entice him to pose for us so she brought some chicken for him. He definitely loved the chicken but he wasn’t too interested in looking at me since Gayla was the one giving him the chicken. Who can blame him, right?! I used my duck call, which typically dogs are interested in because it’s a sound they haven’t heard before, but Wolfie wasn’t fooled. He still was locked on Gayla! So I brought out the big guns... the squeaky toy. And sure enough, Wolfie’s attention was right on me and my camera! He did so well posing for us and I’m thankful for his love of squeaky toys!
Wolfie did so well for his calendar session and I am thrilled to have him in the 2021 Alaska Dog Calendar! Thanks, Gayla, for suggesting the ski trails as a location, I never would have thought to schedule a session there! Enjoy these photos of handsome Wolfie!
