Merle
Check out this handsome boy! Merle is a 1.5 year old German Shepherd Husky Mix. He was adopted by his human, Kat, in the midst of the Swan Lake Fire last summer. Kat literally drove through fire to adopt this cutie and I know she is so excited to have him!
Kat and Merle have their own little piece of paradise on their 50 acre homestead in Nikiski, Alaska. Merle was the only 2021 Alaska Dog Calendar winner that didn’t live in either Anchorage or the Valley and when I saw that, I thought it just might be time for a little adventure! We scheduled our session over Labor Day Weekend when my husband, daughter and I could make the trek down to Nikiski and see their homestead! It was definitely an adventure and a learning experience for two first time parents taking their 2 month old on her first overnight trip. 🥴
The homestead did not disappoint! Kat and her family have done so much hard work to fix up their place and make it a beautiful place! They have a little lake on their property and I thought it would be fun to head down there to start of our session. You know, dogs and bodies of water rarely make for a clean combination and I’m not really sure what I was thinking, but I definitely ended up completely soaked from the knees down. Whoops! I really need to invest in some Xtratuffs! Soaked pants aside, this was a wonderful session and I had so much fun with Merle and Kat. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and for showing me around your property! I can’t wait to see what you guys do next on your homestead!
